About
A goldfinch meets a butterfly on the last warm day of the year.
That is The Last Warm Day, the first film in the series. A hand-drawn animated short for young children, set in a hidden valley in Wisconsin's Driftless Area, the corner of the world the glaciers walked around.
Every animal in it is a real Driftless animal. Every plant is one that actually grows here. The light and the season are the ones we get. It is a made-up place built only out of true things.
The films do not lie to children. Things end, things leave, and winter comes. The comfort is never that it is not so. The comfort is that somebody sits down next to you.
Every frame is made by hand. No generated imagery anywhere in the films or their art.
